Some Descendants of Nicholas Moore b. 1539

This is a genealogical record of a family that begins in Essex and Suffolk, England in the mid-sixteenth century. Francis Moore emigrated to Massachusetts in the 1630s and, a generation later, his son Samuel helped to establish New Jersey. During the American Revolution a later Samuel Moore was deemed to be a Loyalist and his property was confiscated. He moved to Nova Scotia in 1783. Many of his family moved to Upper Canada (now Ontario) in the early 1800s and he joined them. In 1837 there was a rebellion in Canada and many men in the Moore family particpated on the losing side. Some were convicted of treason but later released. Shortly after this period many emigrated to the U.S.A. and we descend from James Moore who remained in Canada.
